Canadian Premiere

A narration of memories of the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990), the film attempts to counter the effects of silence on Lebanon’s post-war generation, shielded from this dark chapter of their country’s history. The documentary brings to light astounding stories of daily life during the civil war through the recollections of four characters who struggled to get by under the constant threat of death and loss. Archival photos and visits to notorious landmarks depict the horrors experienced by the Lebanese during this time. When the war ended abruptly without addressing its causes or consequences, an entire generation who lived through the hostilities fell silent. This film by Palestinian-Lebanese director Carol Mansour is part of a greater oral history project aimed at fostering inter-generational dialogue on the war and its impacts.
