Oscar-nominated foreign film and winner of the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize Cannes Film Festival, Omar by Hany Abu-Asad is a gripping psychological thriller about love, friendship and betrayal set in the West Bank. By day, the determined Omar risks his safety, dodging bullets and scaling the separation wall, to see his girlfriend Nadia who lives on the other side. Their relationship is a secret from those around them. He is saving his earnings as a baker to ask her to marry him so they can finally be together. When he is not with Nadia or at the bakery, he and his childhood friends, Tarek (Nadia’s brother) and Amjad, plot to carry out a strike against the Israeli army. When an Israeli soldier at a nearby checkpoint is killed, Rami, an Israeli military officer, stalks Omar and uses his secret relationship to draw him into a complex web of tested loyalties.
