This film is a fascinating family story about a little known fact in Arab history. During the Spanish Civil War, Arabs were among the international volunteers who travelled to Spain to defend democracy. Sidki, a Palestinian journalist travelled to Spain as one such volunteer. The turmoil of the 20th century - Spanish Civil War, WWII, the Nakba and Lebanese Civil War - and its personal impacts, is revealed through the incredible story of Sidki and his family. The film is an engrossing account of how geopolitics interfered in the lives of this family, dispersing them to far corners of the world, and is a testament to the power of family bonds to overcome time and distance.
