A Gaza Weekend

A Gaza Weekend

93 minutes
Basil Khalil
Fiction
2022 - United Kingdom, Palestine
English, Arabic, Hebrew with English Subtitles

After the outbreak of a deadly virus in Israel, people are desperate to get
out of the country. Among them are bumbling Englishman Michael and uptight
Israeli Keren, a wealthy couple who find themselves stranded amidst lockdown.
Their only hope to get out is to smuggle their way into Gaza, “the safest place
in the world,” due to the separation wall.
The couple hire some Palestinian hustlers, Waleed and Emad, to help get
them into Gaza. But once there, they are stranded again when they are forced to
seek refuge in Waleed’s basement after news of the fleeing couple hits the
media. All trapped together, Waleed and his wife must find a way to get the
couple out of Gaza and out of their lives. What follows is a comedy-adventure
by Oscar nominated Basil Khalil (Ave Maria) in his debut feature film.
