In Gaza, 60 year old Issa, a stoic fisherman, disregards his sister’s insistence he needs to get married. However, through stolen glances and awkward exchanges it soon becomes clear that he is secretly in love with Siham, a woman who works at the market with her daughter Leila. One night while out fishing, within Israel’s limited fishing zone for Gazans, Issa’s nets bring up an unexpected catch – an ancient statue of Apollo in all his anatomical glory. Guarded by the night, Issa brings his treasure home and hides it. But when Apollo’s most potent part is accidentally broken off, it triggers a series of absurd events that transforms Issa. Inspired by true events, this latest film by Gaza filmmakers Tarzan and Arab Nasser (Degrade) is a satirical tale of repressed desires and the absurdity of life under occupation.
