Local Pals Residency Open Call for Submissions
Toronto Palestine Film Festival x Trinity Square Video x Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto

Local Pals is a residency for Palestinian filmmakers and video artists interested in producing video artwork. The residency is designed for selected participants to produce a 5- to 10- minute video. Completed productions will be screened at the 2020 Toronto Palestine Film Festival (TPFF), September 23-27. Participants will have full access to TPFF 2020 including all the screenings, talks, and special programs. Local Pals will provide an opportunity for local filmmakers/video artists to connect and collaborate with each other.
There are no submission fees. The residency will provide you support from Trinity Square Video and Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, along with $500 in-kind for production gear and post-production services plus an additional $1000 towards your short film production costs. Participants will also receive a one-year Trinity Square Video membership. The video should be completed between May 15th and August 15th, 2020.
Submission requirements:
Synopsis of the proposed project, including story elements and/or proposed footage (one-page maximum)
Director’s Statement (one-page maximum), including any information about the project that makes it unique (e.g., personal connection to the story material, etc.)Plus a short plan on how you will produce the film with social distancing measures and COVID-19 restrictions.
Current Creative CV, including training, education, experience, accolades, and links to past projects Proposed Budget. (Please include a fundraising plan if the budget exceeds the amount granted by the residency)

Eligibility:
The Local Pals Residency is open to Toronto or Toronto-affiliated Palestinian filmmakers and artists.
Participants must have previously produced, directed and/or written at least one short video. Collectives are welcome to apply.
Participants must be Canadian citizens within the definition of the Citizenship Act, or permanent residents within the definition of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Selected participants will be notified May 10, 2020.
