During the 2014 attack on Gaza, director Wael al-Sousi heard the continuous bombardment from his home. But it was as if the sounds came from “somewhere else,” a far away place. When the attacks ended he visited Beit Hanoun, a heavily bombed neighbourhood. There he heard the echo of the sound of explosions with each destroyed home he saw. The echoes filled the emptiness, overwhelming him as he realized that “somewhere else” was Gaza. This beautifully shot film captures the unbelievable scale of the destruction.
