Join The Toronto Palestine Film Festival after our opening night screening for a must-see concert! TPFF proudly presents, 47 Soul on their first tour of North America.
The concert takes place on September 24th, 2015 (doors 9pm; show 10pm) at Lula Lounge and is presented in conjunction with Small World Music Society.
Formed in 2013, 47SOUL came together from across the Levant to play electronic Palestinian street music. Their new wave of Arabic music has garnered them a large following in the underground music scenes of Europe and the Middle East, and landed them on the stages of prominent UK music festivals including Womad and Glastonbury.
Their sound, rooted in Dabke and hyped up with analog synthesizers, drum machines, guitar lines, is paired with socially conscience lyrics in English and Arabic. Their unique shamstep style places them in a genre of a new generation of international electronic/hip hop acts that are reinventing the old for the future.
