Soufra follows the inspirational story of a tenacious social entrepreneur, Mariam Shaar – a refugee who has spent her entire life in the Burj El Barajneh refugee camp, south of Beirut, Lebanon. Mariam sets out against all odds to change her fate by launching a successful catering company “Soufra”. Backed by a team of fellow refugee women from Syria, Iraq and Palestine, Mariam sets out to overcome the numerous hurdles faced by Palestinian refugees in Lebanon to launch the world’s first refugee-owned food truck. Together, they heal the wounds of war through the unifying power of food while taking their future into their own hands.
