ONGOING NAKBA

Check out our compiled list of resources that you can use to learn, share, educate and take action.

Like you, our hearts weigh heavy but this is not the time to despair but a time for solidarity and action. Through our programming, TPFF is committed to centering our narratives of resistance.

The latest attacks on Palestinians are a part of the ongoing Nakba that started 73 years ago. Palestinian survivors and their descendants have not forgotten the lands they were cleansed from, and once again they are collectively rising up against Israeli oppression and land theft.

As we call on Canada to end its support of Israel’s crimes of Apartheid, as per the HRW report, we also call for the end of Canada’s systemic racism against Indigenous Peoples and to uphold the treaties from coast to coast.

What is Al Nakba?

Al Nakba, translates from Arabic to "The Catastrophe" and refers to the mass expulsion of Palestinians from their land in 1948 for the creation of the Israeli state.

The trauma and memory of Al Nakba is still live as millions of Palestinians living inside and outside of Palestine/Israel wait to return to their ancestral lands, while thousands more continue to be expelled from their land. The Nakba has had a profound effect on the lives, narratives, identities and culture of generations of Palestinians. Every year on May 15th the Nakba is commemorated around the world.
