Two Palestinian villages – Al-Araqib in the Naqab desert and Susiya in the West Bank – share a story of struggle against forced displacement. These villages have had the majority of their lands confiscated for exclusive Israeli use, their homes have been demolished or are under demolition orders, they are forbidden from cultivating their agricultural lands, they are denied basic services such as water and electricity, and their residents live under constant threats to their personal security. Under the Prawer Plan, a further 800,000 dunnams of land would be confiscated, 35 villages would be demolished and 50,000 Palestinian residents of the Naqab would be expelled in the largest act of ethnic cleansing since the Nakba.
