Inspired by true events, Eyes of a Thief opens at the height of the second Intifada (2002). Wounded and on the run, the enigmatic Tareq (played by Khaled Abol Naga) eludes Israeli forces with the help of local nuns who shelter him in a church. However, he is soon captured by Israeli soldiers and jailed. After being imprisoned for a decade, Tareq returns to his town upon his release and sets out to find Nur, the daughter he has never known. His search uncovers dangerous secrets and moral uncertainties hiding beneath the surface of contemporary Palestinian society. The much-anticipated follow up to Najwa Najjar’s award-winning Pomegranates and Myrrh (2008), Eyes of a Thief weaves its tale of love and loss into a taut political thriller.
