Condom Lead is the first Palestinian short film to be nominated for an award at the Cannes Film Festival (2013). The film’s name and inspiration was drawn from Operation Cast Lead, the brutal 2008/9 attack on Gaza that lasted 22 days. In this film, the directors portray the rarely explored personal impact of war – how the instinct of survival supercedes that of intimacy. The ground-shaking explosions of missiles and tanks not only colonize land, but also the body and soul. Love and desire become balloons waiting to be burst.
