We first met Abu Eyad in last year’s TPFF closing night film “A World Not Ours” by Mahdi Fleifel. His dream was to leave the stifling conditions of the Ain el-Helweh refugee camp in Lebanon. In 2010, Abu Eyad travelled with smugglers through Syria and Turkey into Greece. In this short film, Fleifel calls his childhood friend in Greece to check up on him. Like the many migrants who make the dangerous journey to Europe, Abu Eyad and the others find themselves trapped in a country undergoing economic, political, and social collapse.
